Posted on August 06, 2012 by Melissa Winn | 1 Comment

When to Introduce: 6 months (always check with your pediatrician)

Stars: Oats are high in fiber, calcium, protein and even some B vitamins. Sweet potatoes are high in Vitamin A and beta carotene as well as potassium

Ingredients:

2 bananas
1 pear
1/2 cooked sweet potato
1 cup oats
2 cups coconut milk (or liquid of your choice)

Directions

1. Add pear, banana, and sweet potato to blender and puree (add a small amount of liquid as need to blend)

2. In a medium pot, bring coconut milk to simmer. Add oats and reduce heat to low. Cover and cook until oats are almost finished (5-10 minutes).

3. Add banana, pear and sweet potato puree

4. Fill pouches and serve or store.

Servings: Fills 6 pouches

I’d suggest using quick oats, or pureeing the oatmeal. I used regular oats (as the recipe seems to imply) and it was VERY difficult smooshing them into the pouches. I’m afraid baby isn’t going to be able to suck them out!
