Recipe: Simply Stone Fruit

Author: Little Green Pouch Test Kitchen, Chef Maggie

When to Introduce: 8-10 months and above

Stars: This recipe combines cherries (a super food, packed with calcium) and peaches (loaded with Vitamins A & C, and a natural laxative in case baby is constipated).

1 cup cherries

1 cup peaches

¼ cup water

Directions: Thoroughly wash the fruit. Stem the cherries and place in a saucepan. (The pits are easier to remove after cooking, so no need to pit now.)  Roughly chop the peaches and place in the saucepan. Add the water. Cover and simmer on low heat until the fruit is tender, approximately 30 minutes. Remove the lid and cool. Pit the cherries. Place all of the fruit and the liquid from the pan in a blender or food processor. Puree. Fill your reusable food pouch with your delicious homemade baby food!

Servings: Fills approximately 2-3 Little Green Pouches.

Notes: If you’d like a thicker puree, take the lid off the pot towards the end of cooking, raise the heat and let the liquid burn off.

Modifications: Mix this puree with applesauce to spice it up a bit.  Or, make a double batch and serve the extras to the grownups over ice cream or angel food or short cake.
